Sometimes I take note of how I perform simple tasks. Walking down the street, I rework the action of walking in super-slow motion, I feel each action of my body corresponding to each other, while everything else around me moves in normal speed. It’s as though I am walking in space, every motion that was once taken for granted is given new life, appreciated, observed for improvement. The ground will give way, and then I am walking on a different plane. This is how deja vu feels, or at least how I remember it.

Greg Dulli – Candy Cane Crawl – this is a live selection from his latest release, which is Live at the Triple Door. This is a song from his band, the Twilight Singers, and one of those slow burn yearning self destructive, forget to flush the toilet of your memory type journeys.

CLP – I’m So Trill feat. Tunde Olaniran – from Chris de Luca of Funkstorung fame and Phon.o, who are both beter known for their abstract techno shenanigans, but have once again have joined their powers to break the beat in the form of hip hop.

Deadbeat – Grounation (Berghain Drum Jack) – better known for his dubby abstract releases, this is a jacked? up percussive workout that will require you to shave those armpits and change those socks.

I am not doing a “best of” list this year. I had some songs and some albums put together, but I figure if you go through my posts throughout the year, you can find out what I dig/dug. As most of the tracks are still up for your listening or d-loding pleasure, go dig. I actually did put together a list of best albums which is on a friend’s new site which should be ready sometime next year, so…… Instead of lists, I put together a compilation of songs, some old, some new, some crude…..some just hard-to-find.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Down Boy (Alternative Rock) – this feels more like a reenactment of some emotional extreme conveyed through the extreme dynamics of the music. great song.

Spoon – Finer Feelings (Alternative Rock) – i’ve never been a big fan of spoon. interesting songwriter, but never got hooked. this album brought me into the fold and it brings together the 60′s pop/soul with interesting arrangements and great songs.

The Cinematic Orchestra – Breathe (Downtempo) – Fontella Bass brings her old skool torch bearing voice to this dramatic soundscape.

Deadbeat – Melbourne Round Midnight (Dub) – this track is from his new release ‘journeyman’s annual’ and it further expands with guest mc’s and vocalists to help meld tech with dub.

Pan-Pot – Lancelot Von Camelot (Barem Remix) (Techno) – a nice straight-up up techno track. call it minimal, call it progressive. whatever. it has layers and layers of rhythms.

The Tuss – Last Rushup 10 (Abstract Beats, IDM) – alter ego of Richer D James aka Aphex Twin. probably. manic mental states defined in a song structure. a bit retro like his piano overlord releases, but he never sounds like anyone, and no one can ever emulate how he sounds.

PausePlayStop, a nice early morning that comes from a late late evening….. mix of abstract beats. Some good headphone music.
